Phase 1: Enter Your Idea

INNOVATE! Business Challenge is a high school competition to come up with an idea for a business or invent a new product or service. Winners receive thousands of dollars in cash and prizes to make their idea a reality! This website is your portal to submit your idea online.

Entering your idea is easy! Get creative and come up with an idea. Ideas can be an item that does not exist, a new or improved product or service. Not sure? Click here for some ideas.

Once you have your idea, record a 60-90 second video, called an "elevator pitch," telling us about your idea. In preparing to record, download this helpful Video Slate/Talking Points form to organize your thoughts. At the beginning, hold up the slate in front of you, and say the information on it, including your full name, school, grade, and cell phone number. This is not included in the 60-90 second time length requirement. To see some good examples, watch a few videos from previous finalists.

Enter yourself or a team. You can even enter three ideas!

Once you've recorded your idea video, it's time to upload it. You may also mail a thumb drive or DVD to HCOE, INNOVATE! Business Challenge, 901 Myrtle Avenue, Eureka, CA 95501.

Videos must be at least 60 seconds long, no longer than 90 seconds, and must be less than 95MB in size. For help with video file size, click here.

The first 100 videos entered will receive a prize! It will be sent via school courier service for distribution to each student who entered a video of their idea. One prize person and per team.

Deadline: Friday, February 15th, 2019, 5 p.m.

Once you enter your idea, it will be viewed and scored by judges. The top 50 ideas will be selected to move on to Phase 2 to answer 13 Business Questions. In Phase 3 the Top Ten ideas are selected to present their ideas to a panel of judges.
